HIGHLIGHTS
My time at Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) was marked by significant contributions as part of Sony Innovation Studios, an R&D group within Sony. I received credits, including Virtual Production Engineer, 2D Pipeline Supervisor, Post Production Supervisor, and Visual Effects Supervisor. As a Virtual Production Engineer, I spearheaded the procurement and implementation of a sophisticated fiber-optic video distribution and routing system and managed cutting-edge Sony "Crystal LED" (CLED) cabinets and controllers. As part of my role as 2D Pipeline Supervisor, I led a specialized team in automating the processing of captured volumetric environments. I also maintained the color pipeline within the data processing and, later on, the LED displays.
Additionally, I was credited as a post-production supervisor on multiple internal projects. I successfully managed budgets and bid vendors, supervised the execution of editorial, sound, VFX, and color, and coordinated reviews with the director and executives. Additionally, my post-production work extended into Visual Effects Supervision; I led VFX look development, created detailed breakdowns and budget estimates, and supervised on-set VFX shots.
My multifaceted role at Sony Pictures Entertainment allowed me to contribute significantly to various aspects of virtual production, post-production, and visual effects, showcasing my expertise in technical operations, project management, and creative collaboration.
Virtual Production Engineer
Procurement, installation, and commissioning of the $1M+ fiber-optic video distribution and routing systems between the LED stages, creative offices, and rendering machine room with 120+ endpoints.
Operated, maintained, and calibrated 3,000 Sony ZRD-B15A Micro LED cabinets and 32 Sony ZRCT-300 controllers on a volume.
Hands-on installation, deployment, and operation of VP hardware and production equipment, including LED walls, render nodes, tracking systems, DMX lighting, video distribution, timing/sync, and artist/operator carts or endpoints.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues with Sony product teams and external hardware vendors while informing executive management of progress and status of workarounds.
2D Pipeline Supervisor
Collaborated with the volumetric capture specialist, 3D artists, and software development team to document and automate the manual process of capturing volumetric environments.
Developed project specifications, assigned development tasks, performed code reviews, and released software.
Developed and maintained color pipeline within data process and display.
Post Production Supervisor (credited)
Created and maintained a post-production budget for the executive producer
Bid multiple vendors covering the areas of editorial, sound, VFX, and color
Supervised the execution of editorial, sound, VFX, color, and finish for various virtual production short film/television projects.
Managed data organization, turnover & delivery to vendors.
Coordinated reviews with the director & executives.
Served as a communication liaison between the virtual production team, director, and post-production teams.
Managed the delivery and distribution of final products and formatted for HDR and SDR while targeting various platforms and screenings.
Visual Effects Supervisor (credited)
Led the VFX look development by creating style frames for the VFX post-production elements in direct Collaboration with the director
Created detailed VFX breakdowns, budget estimates, schedules, and bid work with vendors
Supervise on-set VFX shoots, ensuring that footage is captured correctly for integration with the intended post-production visual effects.
